Imagine

imagine.

That's the headline you've probably seen by now on billboards around Boise. Three different billboards - each with a portrait of a woman who has undergone cancer treatment, and the side-effects that go along with it - are around the valley to promote Boise's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

The women featured on the billboards and in other pieces for the Boise affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure are Susan Chapman, Bobbi Fuller, Margo Vaughn, Cheryl Imlach and Stephanee Rowbury.

The billboards, website, and other support materials were developed by Stoltz Marketing Group. From the story on their website:

In the new "Imagine" campaign, the women's portraits are embellished with imaginary hairstyles, illustrating what they might look like if a cure is found. The resulting race posters, web site and other collateral material are the work of SMG's Crissie McDowell, Kate Holgate, Lindzee "Screw the Budget" Frei, and friend Katie Shamberg who together have raised more than $40,000 to find a cure over the last few years through their own nonprofit Think Pink, Inc.
Photography for the campaign was done by Todd Meier Photography.

There are a number of events leading up to the Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 9th. Be sure to check out the website for all the details.

One Memorable Avocado

Nation's Restaurant News recently recognized work produced by Stoltz Marketing Group for Simplot Food Group. The piece, a print ad for Simplot's avocado products, was named the highest performing ad for 2008.

The magazine’s ADinsite™ study surveyed readers on twenty ads for recall, believability and both short- and long-term interest in the product advertised. The Simplot ad outperformed efforts by recognizable brands including Heinz, The Beef Council, Idaho Potato Commission, Butterball and Tyson.

Congratulations to everyone involved.

Jacksons Food Stores Selects New Agency

After a competitive review, Jacksons Food Stores has selected The Agency Creative Network as their Agency of Record, responsible for all marketing, advertising and public relations related activities. The Agency Creative Network was chosen over Stoltz Marketing Group, Oliver Russell, and CLM. The account had previously been held by CLM.

The change of agencies represents a dramatic shift for Jacksons Food Stores, and is a significant win for The Agency Creative Network. The account was a long-time CLM account, and had been with the shop since its days as WRC Advertising. Jacksons is Idaho's 6th largest privately held corporation, and operates in Idaho, Nevada, Washington and Oregon.

The Agency Creative Network, founded and led by Jane Perlaky, describes itself as an “open network model.” It utilizes talent throughout the area, and assembles teams tailored to individual client needs. Said one member of the team involved in the Jacksons business, this “…shows that clients see the value in smart strategy and creativity, no matter how it comes together.”

Congratulations to The Agency Creative Network on a hard-earned win.

Giving Back - The United Way

For the past several months, a group of folks from several different agencies and the local creative industry in the Treasure Valley have been working to make the United Way of Treasure Valley's latest campaign a success.

The end result: an integrated campaign that features a four-minute video, three television spots, newspaper ads, a microsite (HelpTheMostPeople.com), radio, online ads, collateral materials and more. This effort will benefit the United Way Community Campaign, which, in turn, allows the United Way to help over 30 local charities with funding each year, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Idaho Foodbank, Girl Scouts, and more.

This work was done entirely on a pro-bono basis, and those involved sacrificed a great deal of time -- often their personal time, before or after business hours -- to make it happen. At the very least, they deserve some recognition for their efforts. In no particular order, the group involved includes:

David Cook, Stoltz Marketing Group
Paul Carew, Carew Co.
Dave Sloyer, Wirestone
Kristy Weyrich, W Design
Doug Gneiting, Stoltz Marketing Group
Lorena Davis & Crew, North by Northwest
Todd Meier Photography
Robbin Gibson, Drake Cooper
Snake River Technology

The campaign is also benefiting from media donations from The Idaho Statesman, Journal Broadcast Group, and companies such as Citi, who donated funds toward the media buy.

David Cook provides even more detail about this project on the Stoltz Marketing Group website, if you'd like to read about it further.

At the end of the day, however, the goal is to drive as many donations to the United Way as possible. If you can donate, please do. If you'd like to learn more about the how's and why's of the United Way, take a look here.

UPDATE:
Here are PDFs of the print ads -
Print #1 - Time and Money
Print #2 - $10 a Week
Print #3 - $19 a Week

Embracing Their Awkwardness

Over the past couple of years, I've regularly picked on, harassed, and generally tormented to folks over at Stoltz Marketing Group about their lack of updates to their website.

They finally got sick of me pestering them. Or not.

In all seriousness, though, the folks over at Stoltz Marketing Group have launched the latest and greatest version of the agency's website. In addition to the typical fodder -- capabilities, portfolio and such -- they've also shared some of their unique personality, and a lighter side of the agency with a few candid photos from the staff throughout the years.

You'll have to see the site to fully appreciate it.

Now you're on the hook though, folks. Gotta keep it updated.

Billboards - in a whole new dimension

For most people, seeing billboards around town is nothing new. Extensions above the top of a board? Neat little gimmick, but after a little time those get ignored as well.

The new digital billboards are, admitted, pretty slick. I think there's a lot of potential for those, and that's worth its own conversation with Lamar one of these days (but we'll save that one for another time).

If you're in the Boise area, you may have seen a series of billboards up recently for Paramount. They were a continuation of the [BLANK] is Paramount concept, which in and of itself has been very effective from what I understand.

But these most recent boards were a little different. There was no image of a child swimming or a striking roof line. This time, the visual was coming right off the board.

Literally.

These latest boards added a third dimension, featuring mannequins depicting scenes or activities that one could expect to have happen in Paramount, such as lighting a barbecue or diving into a swimming pool.

The boards were designed by Stoltz Marketing Group in Boise. They're currently out of rotation, but I'm told they'll be going back up again in the near future. Pictures are below.
