Job Opening - Account Executive

On The Idaho Statesman's CareerBuilder website there is a job opening for an Account Executive with a marketing and graphic design firm. Applicants should have at least one year of agency experience.

While there's no mention of the hiring agency in the job posting, a quick search on the fax number provided revealed that this is a job opening with Murie Design Group.

First order of business for the new hire: destroy that horrific web site!

RUN FAR FAR AWAY FROM MURIE DESIGN!!!!!!!! If you don't believe me ask around.

Very telling that Murie feels the need to post want ads anonymously.

The new OR site is nice....but not as nice as the brandroots.com site. Brandroots: Cinemax called. They want their late night soft porn music soundtrack back. Again.

did brandroots get that site from template monster?

Makes me wonder how many brandroots clients have a fancy new site courtesy of template monster.

Apparently Template Monster doesn't supply the ActionScript code to create hyperlinks out of one's website pics. Damn shame.

It's almost as disgraceful as Web Majik - http://www.webmajik.com/

Have you seen that guy's HUMMER?
WTF

anonymous posters UNITE!

On a more serious and relevant note... I think it would be cool to have a post on here to post "constructive" criticism of each agency's site. Would be another post appropriate for anonymous posting, but might actually be helpful and/or eye-opening to hear what our peers think about our websites.

Also, I don't want to necessarily go on record saying this (hence the anonymous posting), but I think it is hella lame for an "agency" that offers "Web Site Design" to outsource their own website. What does that say about your "Web Site Design Services"? Again. WTF

WTF indeed.

I like this idea, Anonymous. I'll see what I can do to start making this happen.

Just beware...the comments on this site can often go quickly to the non-constructive borderline dickish comments that get old and can be destructive.

That kind of stuff may be a hit among petty, comment-obsessed annonymous posters like me but probably will not do much for building broader participation from agency leaders and other movers and shakers in the local ad business.

I can see it degenerating quickly into self-righteous, mean-spirited comment feeding frenzy. Sort of like several of the comments on this thread. That's just my opinion.

Agreed, and that's still something that I'm trying to sort out before any kind of a "peer review" of any sort takes shape on this site.

I really don't want to have to play the part of the comment police, so there would have to be a set of hard-and-fast rules that everyone can abide by. I'd like to think that everyone can play nice in the sandbox, but that's not always the case.

I'll mull this one over some more.

brian, my personal opinion is that you should leave the comments alone and let them evolve as they will, in theory, these comments are supposed to be a reflection of the general vibe of the ad community in boise (er, idaho), and because the power structure is so lop-sided in favor of the agencies (vs. the talent) this is really the only equalizer to allow the little guys/gals to speak out. again, in theory, if all was right and good within the boise ad agency scene then these posts would reflect that. your blog, while seeming to put focus on the agencies is really more of a service to the talent since the agencies don't need your blog to help promote them. this, of course, is only my one, anonymous opinion, but i can tell you with absolute certainty that i have worked for a handful of the agencies you have listed and have done business in various forms with many others and i am amazed daily that these folks are allowed to continue to do business. the attitudes i've come up against are so arrogant, pretentious and dismissive that it just adds to the shock when they are sugar coated by the patented boise passive-agressiveness ("we're boise, we have trees and nature, and we love (only our) god therefore we're all nice people").

please, brian, i beg of you, let this blog evolve as it will. i think in the long run you'll find that you've done a tremendous service to this community by helping to balance the power by letting the powerless have their say too.*

*this post works best if you have somebody hum the national anthem while reading it. thank you.
