BlueLine is no more

For those who may not have yet heard, BlueLine Grassroots Marketing is no more.

Tac goes into much more detail on the New Comm Biz site, so there's no need to regurgitate it all here as well.

I think a lot of what those guys were trying to do was admirable. But I also think they were testing a lot of untested theories on behalf of their clients -- and charging them for it. Especially since they were focusing on the local level. It is hard to get it all to pencil.

Their calls that "advertising is dead" were premature. Especially given that they still did some of it, eg billboard design. The end result was mixed messages at best, hypocrisy at worst.

That sounds super negative, but I don't really mean it that way. They tried and that's more than most people do.

They tried, and that's what counts. I wonder if their clients who paid a lot for not much think the cliche fits. I think many saw the writing on the wall. Yes, the Mustangs were cute, and yes, watching Mike Boss run himself ragged just to make sure others heard his voice was fun at times, but come on...

Thus the answer to why so many were fleeing is answered.

I do have to commend those guys for their passion - they were certainly overzealous about their message. Unfortunately I seriously had to wonder a few times whether some of their endeavors were more of ego than of true creative vision. I agree w/ tflowart, and sadly it seems most of their noise was more hypocrisy than anything. They certainly made a name for themselves in our community, whether you believe it was positive or negative.

Regardless, closing the doors and turning off the lights is never easy, and I truly wish the BlueLine boys the best of luck.

I think that they were trying to do one thing that matched their vision, but that it had to change when the market responded that they weren't ready for that type of thinking yet. There is a lot more education around new media because of them though.

I wish them all the best. The passion was totally real for what they did. I've heard rumors of partners stealing money and being ego driven. I hope the remaining members can see that they have really helped their clients and not lose sight of that. Best of luck to those whom earned it.
