The cameras were on last month at the Idaho Media Professionals event: Idaho Advertising Executives and the Art of Persuasion.
Drew Allen of Peppershock was on hand to shoot the event, and has posted the bulk of the panel discussion online.

Idaho's AIGA Chapter is Official
Earlier this month, the Idaho Chapter of the AIGA was recognized as an official chapter by the powers that be in New York. It is the organization's 60th chapter, and by all accounts is going to be a very active organization.
Congratulations to all who worked so hard to make this happen.

Congratulations to Cassie Hoots
Who is Cassie Hoots, you ask? Well, she's a student at Atlas Elementary School in Hayden Idaho.
She's also a finalist in the Doodle 4 Google competition. More specifically, her drawing is the finalist from Region 9, in the K-3 category. You can view her drawing, as well as all of the other finalists, on the Doodle 4 Google Vote page.
The goal of the competition was to doodle around the theme "What if...?" There were over 16,000 entries from across the country, including Cassie's.
The winning drawing will be used as a replacement for the standard logo on the Google homepage on May 22, 2008.
Creativity starts early. Nurture it whenever/whenever/however possible.

Job Opening - Copywriter
I ran across an anonymous job listing on the Boise Craigslist for an Ad Agency Copywriter. The job appears to be available as either a freelance or a full time position, depending on the person.
While the job post does not say who this position is with, a quick search and spin around the web should provide some insight.

A new website for the Boise Advertising Federation
Yes, I've nagged about it in the past. Here, here, and of course here, just to name a few.
But the Boise Advertising Federation finally has a new website up and running, with a great deal more content that has been on the site for the past couple of years (not hard to do, but hey, I'm trying to be nice here). It even has some familiar headlines on the homepage.
The BAF site was developed by the crew over at Drake Cooper, and they deserve some recognition for the time and effort that they put into it.
If you haven't already, check out the new site: http://www.boiseadfed.org/. Of course, comments about the site are welcome here, as long as they stay somewhat on topic...

New Agency Addition - Red Sky Public Relations
Okay, so I'm horribly behind on this one. Happens to the best of us...
Red Sky Public Relations is a recent addition to the marketing and communications world here in Idaho, but they come packing a pretty big punch. Red Sky was founded by Stephanie Worrell, formerly of Worrell Communications, Jessica Flynn, previously Communications Manager at Tamarack Resort, and Alicia Ritter, formerly Director of Fundraising Initiatives at Boise State University.
The firm also started with Catie Wardwell as an Account Executive and Robert Deen as an investor and advisor.
Red Sky PR started off with a bang, opening their doors with clients such as Supervalu/Albertsons, Tamarack Resort, College of Western Idaho and more. On the interactive front, they also publish the PR Musings Weblog.

Coffee Morning in Boise
And this time, with a few extra days notice...
The next Coffee Morning in Boise is scheduled for Friday, May 9th, from 7:30 am-ish until 9:00 am-ish. Once again, we'll take up some space at Java, at the corner of 6th and Main in downtown Boise.
For those who may need a refresher, Coffee Morning is a loosely organized gathering, where people come together for coffee and conversation. There's no agendas, no presentations - just an opportunity for people to chat, share ideas, and learn from one another.
As always, everyone is welcome to stop by, enjoy a beverage, and some conversation with others.

How to see the award-winning work
One of the most frequent comments I've heard since the Rockies Awards Show, and several others, is 'where can I see the work'? Given the fact that the American Advertising Federation has changed its submission guidelines and no longer requires entries to be mounted for display, that poses a new challenge.
The Austin Advertising Federation came up with a solution for The Austin Show, and I have to say - I like it. They created a program for the event which featured the winners' work, as well as the respective credits. Not only was the program available at the show, but it can also be viewed online, as a PDF.
To the folks at the Austin Advertising Federation I say "well done."
Think something like this could happen locally?
